Portland Indian Associations

Portland is home to a few Indian community associations and groups.

Tamils, Kannadigas, Gujaratis and Telugus in Portland have all formed their own associations representing their culture and interests.

Besides language based associations, there are organizations representing the interests of women and students as well.

Portland Indian associations are active and organize programs to celebrate Indian Independence Day, Republic Day Ganesh Chaturthi, Dasara, Diwali, Sankranti, Ugadi, Baisakhi and Vishu that bond the community.

Most of these events include cultural programs like Bollywood music concerts, Bharanatyam, Bhangra dance programs and food vendors peddeling Idly, Vada, Mysore Masala Dosa, Dokhla, Samosa, Dum Biryani etc.
